why get drunk, stoned, high etc?

all the time i see comments about people planning to go out and get drunk, ript, whatever. why? what's the point?

just curious as i've never heard a good answer to this question

so in the last few weeks i have been made aware of what my friends have been doin at partys in the last year.. turns out coke is the new pot ( ps im 17) i can probably count 13 kids of the top of my head that i know are doin it. and yeah im 17 and their all my age and younger

I wasted a good 12 or so years doing just that every single weekend and I don't have a good explanation.

But until one learns to deal with reality, it's a great little hiding spot.

drugs are stupid period. Getting drunk to the point of passing out is stupid period. Getting together with friends for a few beers once a month or so (eg long weekend) is alright.

to escape their issues? have a good time? what does it matter? unless they are destroying themselves, but sometimes you can't do anything to help.

excessive alcohol tends to make me get into stupid situations (beer goggles anyone) so i'm trying to avoid that, however, nothing wrong with enjoying a :beer: with friends. i have a few friends that are chronic and i try to avoid those situations where possible - kinda weird being straight while everyone around you is :high:
