Why Freedom Became Free-Dumb in America

This is a great read and very relevant for us as leaders like Ford, Kenney and our past head, Clark, are leading us this way to enrich themselves.

By now, you might have heard North Dakota is the world’s worst Covid hotspot. The world’s worst, with South Dakota not far behind. Things aren’t just desperate there — they’re bizarre, at least to the rest of the world. Nurses talk about patients in the Covid ICU lashing out at them because…they don’t believe Covid exists…while they’re dying of it. Meanwhile, the governor refuses to make mask-wearing mandatory, because she thinks that masks and lockdowns don’t work. You might think all that would infuriate Dakotans, but quite the opposite is true: they’re firmly behind her, as they are Donald Trump, the President who let Covid spin out of control, and make North Dakota the world’s worst Covid hotspot.

That's a laugh. I'd wager 9 out 10 Canadians have no idea whatsoever who Camus or Sartre are, let alone have read them.

Besides, he could be writing about Albertans. Or about the people in many places in rural Canada. Hell, I've heard those same meritocratic views he outlines as distinctly amerikan from peeps riding the busses here in the city.

90%? Doubt that considering over 50% of Canadians have college or university education.

I guess i am the 1/10 as I have read both sarte and camus. 

And no, a minority of Canadians act/think like these Americans. A militia group tried to kidnap and execute a governor for trying to keep covid at bay, and the president supported them. That stuff is not happening in Canada because in general we don't think like that portion of America. Also, I live in rural canada and we have better covid precautions than vancouver. But please post a radical opinion that "disproves" what i say.

More than 1/2 of all people aged 25 - 64, from the same source as yours. That info was listed well before the graph you chose, which only looked at Aboriginal people and not the whole population.  It was also mentioned in the same article that Canada leads the OECD in the proportion of college and uni graduates.

90% of Canadians live within 100 miles of the border so even if 50% of those “up there” hold the same “trailer trash” views, that really isn’t a very large number. I’m not saying we don’t have morons around us, but that is a VERY small number comparatively. That said I’m sure you saw the footage of the art gallery steps on New Year’s Eve.

A lot of PHD's and uni grads here in this area but then we got a lot of churchs which are full of god heads and they might cancel each other out

I think America can trace it's idiocracy back to the civil war.  When the South was defeated they were allowed to keep their regressive policies and fight reconstruction efforts in the name of state rights and a lot of the current fuckery within their system has been slowly put into place for the same reasons by those same southern states.  From James M Buchanan to the Koch brothers, there has been an ongoing project to return America back to a country for the rights of the wealthy land owner that includes grooming justices, think tank policy writers, lawyers and politicians and this world view has always been supported in the south as they are happy to live in a world of Boss Hogs.  Amy Coney Barretts don't form naturally.
