Apparently this was a staged question and response.
i was wondering.. he sure sounded prepared..
he is all rah rah feminism while signing deal w saudi arabia ..scam artist..
better than listing to ISIS crap…

i guess so..
The victim of a violent gang rape has been sentenced by a Saudi Arabian court to 200 lashes and six months in jail for the crimes of speaking to the press and indecency.
According to Sharia Law, a Saudi Arabian woman must be accompanied by a male guardian at all times in public, something the 19 year old victim did not obey when she went to meet a friend, according to website Live Buddhism.
While in a car with a student friend, retrieving a picture, two men got into the vehicle and drove them to a secluded area. She said she was raped there by seven men, three of whom also attacked her friend.

I have been looking. A buddy told me it came out as staged and the PM's response was verbatim from a wikipedia page. It's why I used "apparently". I would hope a math teacher would have some understanding of quantum physics and computing.
A complex interaction between sterics and electronics…
Yeah, but still

It was pretty cutesy for sure to possibly spend just that morning learning about it and then giving the reporters a sound byte.
Though not exactly unbelievable that the man could have learned during his morning tour that quantam physics allows for "a particle and wave to exist simultaneously", or whatever the tiny snippet of information he show boated was?
The Wikipedia article on quantam computing doesn't appear to contain anything near his quote.
"Large-scale quantum computers would be able to solve certain problems much more quickly than any classical computers that use even the best currently known algorithms, like integer factorization using Shor's algorithm or the simulation of quantum many-body systems. There exist quantum algorithms, such as Simon's algorithm, that run faster than any possible probabilistic classical algorithm.[9]….."
This bit was the most relevant.
Regardless, I give the man credit for at least showing some respect to the science.

Whatever. I still throw a shoe at the TV when he starts speaking.
Freedom of contract. We sell them guns that kill them; they sell us drugs that kill us.

Shor's algorithm for prime number factorization on a quantum computer could render RSA-based encryption (currently the most used form of encryption and used for most everyday e-transactions) worthless. So far it hasn't been feasible for real-world code-breaking, but there are probably lots of spooks investing in it.
Basically, he has a layman a understanding of it an that SHOULD be no big deal. But it is.

They've been able to factor the number 21. There's a long way to go. Haven't heard anything for a couple of years about the local company that was building quantum computers.
NSA can do a lot.

That is what I thought when I heard it. Trudeau is no dummy and could have easily sorted out a basic understanding of quantum computing like most other people.
