When is it time to put on the winter tires?

My tires are labeled "M+S" but theres no snowflake symbol, as far as I have read on ICBCs website this is perfectly fine for passes requiring snow tires. Anyone know more?

That's correct. Although for high passes M+S tires are not the best choice IMO.

It might have changed, but if you don't have snow tires you must have chains with you.

Got that covered, 4wd = invincible.

Not ideal but I'm going over the Alberni hump and Sutton pass, new tires aren't gonna happen before Friday.

All of the signage now has changed to M[HTML_REMOVED]S AND the snowflake symbol, no longer OR. This means you must have winter tires. All seasons do not cut it and it's great that MOTI have recognized this. Hopefully this leads to less MVIs caused by people that just don't get it

The bestest tire in the world don't matter much when there's still the same idiot behind the steering wheel.

Well that's too bad. Thought icbc and moti had finally smartened up and made real winter tires mandatory, not the all season shit city folk choose to run up here on their casual weekends away, causing delays, injuries and, sadly, fatalities on a regular basis. One can hope that eventually this will be made law

Here's what the province says:

Remember: If you plan to travel outside the Lower Mainland and southeastern Vancouver Island, winter tires are required on most highways.

Strangely, motorcycles are not required to have snow tires anywhere in BC.
