I ran down with a trailer and filled up with all our Nursery furniture and emptied the baby section of target. Bought a ton, saved a tonne.

Whoa, you must be strong. Crossfit?

When one person suffers from a delusion, it is called insanity.

When many people suffer from a delusion, it is called religion.

The Canadian economy and it's retailers thank you for the kick in the nuts by spending your dollars south of the border.

The Canadian public thanks it's distributors and retailers for being either too stupid or simply unwilling to react to a changing marketplace.

So y'all factor in cost of shipping /duty/gas used driving to pt roberts/maybe time to do that in some cases but the point is ALL costs ?

Yup. I have. By picking it up stateside, you also save any brokerage costs because you are brokering it yourself when you bring it across, although I have noticed companies including brokerage fees in their shipping charges as a nominal cost since they do more of it these days.

To give you an idea of savings I had, a set of wheels and tires that would have cost me over $3200 in Canada was $1680 USD. Duty was 6%, then GST. Well worth the 45 miunte drive south.

it's an endless debate.

Upgrade your WRX too? Do you still have it?

The last time the dollar was close, I bought a nice 20g turbo.
Then it blew up on the dyno, blowing my mod budget for the year.
:(

hahahaha, true.
But business isn't part of the fluffy bunny club. It's a horrible battle where the prepared, and/or well placed have a better chance of survival than the rest. There's a reason why my customers still buy from me in Canada, and not the US. It's a little monetary, and a lot of hard work to ensure they never have an issue with my parts.

There's a reason why I bought my Cromag stuff and DHX 5.0 from Canadian companies rather than the US. The pre, and after sale support makes it all worth while.

I looked at the 50D and the 7D.

I shoot 720p so the 7D isn't necessary.

I really wanted better controls and the T1i fit the bill.

The 7D is almost a pound heavier then the T1i and I ski and bike with that thing.

Most importantly, the 7D and 50D won't fit in the Blurr radio pack I use to carry the gear

Oh and the bhphoto price on the T1i is 599. No local N Van store will sell me the T1i with body only. So I'd have to pay 1099 for the T1i with the 18-55 kit lens that I'd never ever use. bah.
