Madman, "The Outsiders" by SE Hinton.

Oatbag, you are definitely not. I've read 1500 pages of sci fi in the last month. Ian M Banks, William Gibson, Bruce Sterling, Neal Stephenson, Dan Simmons.

The Carpet Makers by Andreas Eschbach. It's a little episodic but definitely falls into the brainiac / nerdy sci-fi category.

Song of Ice and Fire by George RR Martin is a mega-epic and, unfortunately, will surely be wrecked by the TV adaptation, just like The Walking Dead was…

"It's, like, so much fun."

Excellent read. Opens your eyes to the way recent history falls together.

You even start to hear the Friedmanite bias whenever you hear a conservative politician talk about economics.

This is so true. It's like swallowing the red pill.

Books I am reading (or at least piled by my bed)

Was on an Iain M. Banks Culture marathon up until just recently:

Now my PSP has taken over my reading time for a while :).
