My question is what you guys think is the best "idiotproof" DIY website thingy is these days.

Wordpress.com is alright.

Unless you're willing to learn a LOT really fast though, you usually get what you pay for.

Give a try to Iweb, it's part of the Ilife suite that probably came with your mac. Very easy and intuitive to use.
