I'm on Saltspring. Could hear the sirens. It's summer season, so the island is filled with delta bravos right now. It's not exactly Kelowna and the Red Tide (Alberta plates), but it's definitely going to feel different after Labour Day again.

I'm no fan of the cops, but I'd say these guys handled it the right way. Somewhere between shooting and apologizing (as suggested above), seems to be what happened here.

Where's the guy going to go? Being a dick and smashing cars doesn't carry the death sentence.

The real crime here is shooting video in portrait mode. That should be punishable by death.

Officer was injured and the driver was apparently impaired. The whole apprehension under the Mental Health Act is I believe SOP when the perp decides to do self harm.

funny , i only been to saltspring one time , no wait twice but i don't remember it being anything like that .

in fact i only kinda remember deerz on the road , and some pimms thing , and that was only the next day i remember that . . . but ya good on the cops fer not shootin that guy only woulda made things worse .

Had some damn tasty venison on Saltspring in the '70's found out it were road kill as I was chewin'! =/

And yeah I wish oil prices would rebound so allz these Albertan drivers would go back to from where they came………..:scream:

I'm glad they didn't shoot him, I think they knew who they were dealing with and took extra caution.
