get into a wreck, rebuild it and move here permanently, rebuilt ones here sell for the same as clean titled cars in the states…and then you still have one of what like 10 r's in canada?

MK3's are 99.5 and lower, MK4's are 99.5 and up, newer body style.

.glib sent a PM out to you.

Oh, and about the R32, the salvage title only works in BC and Quebec, and nowhere else. There's been plenty of topics regarding that on the VWVortex.com. It's a loophole that might not work anymore, not 100[HTML_REMOVED]#37; sure. Just like importing an authentic Ralley Golf, super hard to do, and maybe more headache than what it's worth

Hmm…does a smashed passenger side rear view mirror qualify as a wreck? Cracked windshield? Broken gas cap? I got em all!

If I end up here permanently then I'll sell it in the states because as much as I love that car the fuel efficeincy sucks and gas costs a lot more up here than in the Bay Area.

Chief: It's black, cracked winshield, broken gas cap, smashed rear view (i've got suspects!). Yell at me if you see me!

I have a golf and I hate it! the fuses blow constantly, the tail and signal lights wont work if the brakes are on. I have spent so much money fixing it that I could have bought a new car!
sounds like either your gonna get a great one or a total lemon. I guess I was one of the unfortunate. :(

I've had an R32 for about 3.5 years now. Actually had to get a new engine after 4500 miles because of a cracked piston. Supposedly their pistons have a failure rate of 1 in 50,000 so I guess I just got lucky. Yeah! Other than that major failure I had minor electrical problems and had to replace the O2 sensor recently. It's at around 55,000 miles now and runs sweet. So just under 100k.

Definitely get a Golf! If the piston was going to fail it would've happened by now. They're compact, easy to work on, and you carry a lot more in them than people realize. With racks you can drive up to Whis with four riders. The 99 has the best body style IMO. Plus the interior got crappier after 2000 (or whenever the body style was changed) so 99 is def a good model year for golfs.

Maybe check out vwvortex.com Haven't been on that site for a while but it was a decent forum two years back.

Pics of your R32?

How is it registered in BC?

EDIT: Just read your post

Ralleys are easy to import as they abide by the 15 years or older rule.
