Out of all the places in the lower mainland, Tsawwassen/Delta are the most tolerable.
To make matters worse, I just unloaded/trucked/dump a barge load of material in a tsawwassen farmers field. What kind of material you ask? Unnamed material, dredged from someplace in powell river and barged down here, 300 tandem truck loads. Want to get an idea of what sort of smell? think of the worst "date" you've ever had. It's worse.
Or compared to Victoria which is sunnier than anywhere in the Okanagan.
umm…
Calgary is the sunniest, and Victoria is nowhere on the list.
The 10 driest cities in Canada are:

Yellowknife NT 280.2
Penticton BC 332.7
Medicine Hat AB 333.8
Swift Current SK 349.1
Saskatoon SK 350.0
Moose Jaw SK 365.1
North BattlefordSK 373.2
Kelowna BC 380.5
Days over 30C/year
Kamloops BC 29.3
Penticton BC 25.9
Kelowna BC 25.0
Medicine Hat AB 23.6
Windsor ON 20.7
Moose Jaw SK 20.2

Vernon BC 17.6
Chatham-Kent ON 16.2
Lethbridge AB 15.8
Vancouver's average annual precipitation is 1219 mm
Montreal's average annual precipitation 1036.4mm
wow! not a whole lot of difference there….
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups

Guess that answers what they were going to do with the barge loads of harbour bottom created by making it deeper. You'd think it would be a bit toxic to use in a farmer's field.

Apparently you have mistaken dry and/or hot with sunny. It can be dry or hot without sunshine. I was also comparing Vic to the Okanagan (and BC), not all of Canada. Also for me personally, days over 30 C is not a positive.
I was just pointing out the fact that Victoria has more hours of sunshine a year because it is surprising.
According to the all knowing Wikipedia
Cranbrook - 2205 hours of sunshine a year
Victoria - 2086 hours of sunshine a year
Kamloops - 2074 hours of sunshine a year

That's funny because the links I found said Calgary was the sunniest, followed by Saskatoon. Weird.

Cairo is probably even sunnier, but like Calgary and Saskatoon, it is also not in the Okanagan.
 no way man, Death Valley!
 The funny thing is I can stand it when Victorians gush about how warm and sunny it is there compared to Vancouver and here I am supporting their same arguments. I will give you this stat that I think speaks to more of the truth.
Annual rainfall in mm
Vancouver 1155 (and that is at the airport where it isn't that bad)
Victoria 841
Kamloops 218
Victoria - When it rains, it pours… but with tons of sunny days.
Vancouver - rains a lot with a few non rainy days thrown in.
Kamloops - Watch out for that cactus.

It's actually being used as structural fill technically. The farmers field is being rezoned/developed. In 3-5 months it may be actually dry enough to walk on.
"Contaminated material is barged out to a containment site in the Lower Mainland." Is the quote I found online…. For my own info, what was this stuff contaminated with?
