If we don't join Biden on the minimum corporate tax it would be extremely foolish.  What's there to ponder Trudeau?  I have to admit, I didn't think Biden would swing for the fences like this. It is probably the only play the Dems have since they are probably never getting asshats like Manchin to support ending the filibuster and the GOP is going to lie and cheat their way back into power. If people see actual changes in their lives it might not be so easy for the GOP to win without ideas like they always seem to. Apparently his new tax bill will mean that people making less than 75K will not pay federal income tax. Fucking Biden for PM.

So prior to being elected, Tungsten tells us Biden is basically a Republican who won’t pursue a progressive enough agenda.  Now that he’s been elected and is putting forward a more progressive agenda than anyone expected, he’s doing it in bad faith because he knows it won’t get passed.

I can’t imagine why people hate progressives.  The purity test on that is impassable.

All of these writers have staked their reputations on claiming that both sides are truly evil so they have painted themselves into a corner.  If someone they had shown support for (Bernie??  Maybe) started these initiatives they would applaud them and blame others if they didn't pass, but if Biden does it he is a charlatan because he knows they won't pass.  The truth is that the Democrats can pass these spending measures and will through reconciliation so the next article will be how the money is actually going to the wealthy or some other backdoor.   They don't talk about things like the child tax credit or the massive tax savings for people making under 75K because it runs counter to their black and white, evil v good narrative and they are no longer the white hat hero speaking truth to power.

Both-Sidesism is such a lazy bullshit trope and the Republicans absolutely love it when lefty Progressives and lazy journalists trot it out because it gives them the air cover they need.

Very dumb.  It also puts people in a position where you either loathe a candidate or cheer them like a Beatles fangirl in the '60s which makes it impossible to criticize them or acknowledge when they do something good.  Trump just made this worse because it was so hard to find anything that he did well and the right accused people of being zealots against him.  Gahh.

I think Canada is in a better position for now because not that many people are total fanbois of our choices (maybe a few ladies for Trudeau), but one charismatic asshole and the whole thing goes up in smoke.

Like, if Drug Ford skips out on provincial politics to lead the religicon party for a run at PM ... on the strength of promising "buck a beer".
