From the Sun's comments:
_Short and sweet. Holding to a certain core of behavior within a particular situation should have nothing to do with how a lawyer will conduct him/herself in relation to those they represent or the rule of law. The BCTF and The Law Society of B.C. perhaps fail to see that their position is discriminatory. I think it springs from a premise that truth is relative and tolerance is supreme. Ironic that this tolerance is only for those who hold the same beliefs as themselves. In fact such beliefs are very closed to any person, organization or group of Canadians who believe in absolute truths, which in my opinion means the BCTF and Law Society of BC are closed to the beliefs of many Canadians.

Can such lawyers properly represent all clients, even those who hold to absolutes, like a Christian who believes that homosexuality is a sin? In turn can a lawyer coming out of TWU properly represent someone who has beliefs different than their own, say for example a homosexual? Is not this the issue? What TWU requires of their students goes no further than that community. Anyone smart enough to become a lawyer is smart enough to make up their own mind, hold to their own beliefs and still objectively represent their clients. I would prefer a lawyer who had a similar worldview to my own, but if push came to shove I would prefer a competent lawyer who doesn't hold to my worldview over one who holds my worldview but is a poor lawyer._

What a load of crap. Tolerance does not mean tolerating intolerance.

When one person suffers from a delusion, it is called insanity.

When many people suffer from a delusion, it is called religion.

That was written by someone from TWU.

Yah, I knew it was a quote from another source. But it's a tired old argument that the religious right never fails to trot out - it's the paradox of tolerance. Just another false argument. The intolerant are not entitled to complain of intolerance, they give up that right by their own intolerance.

Yep those poor folks are being discriminated against because they can't discriminate against some other folks.

I don't want somebody defending, prosecuting, judging Canadians, making laws who above all believes in one book

if you don't think it will matter look at the things that religious nut job fascist Harper has done?

What pisses me off now is this comment:

[HTML_REMOVED]#8220;Trinity Western believes in diversity and the rights of all Canadians to their personal beliefs and values. A person[HTML_REMOVED]#8217;s ability to study and practise the law should not be restricted by their faith,[HTML_REMOVED]#8221; Saffold said.

What, wait a second - if anyone, and I mean anyone, tried to tell someone they couldn't study or practice law because of their religion- there would be hell to pay. I don't know one lawyer in the province that wouldn't stand up for that person. But if their faith doesn't accept other faiths or other people are equally entitled to the same protection - sorry buddy you are going to have to adjust.

Quite a few lawyers voted in favour of TWU's law school. It would be interesting to know why.

Switch- well a good number of them:
a) think this is a matter of religious freedom;
b) think that this has been decided in the teachers case;
c) think that their kid could get the gheys from being in a class with one (no not really)

There are a number of ways of looking at this and some very talented and smart people have been hashing it out for quite some time now.

The fact that the people who are against TWU’s law school are too stupid to realize that believing certain behaviours are wrong does not automatically translate into discrimination makes me wonder whether they are capable of having an intelligent opinion on the matter to begin with.

Why the issue of homosexuality is such a lighting rod in a broader societal debate is simply astounding given the context of the Bible’s establishment of an objective moral code. If you’re going to get offended by a disagreement with the homosexual lifestyle, to be consistent, you have to be equally offended by the restriction of the poor unmarried heterosexual folk having sex as well.

In reality, the Bible is offensive to every human that has ever lived because it states that God is perfect, and everyone falls short of that perfection. According to the Bible, it doesn’t matter whether you lie, cheat, steal, murder, lust after your friend’s wife, value material possessions more than your relationship with God, practice homosexuality (I could go on), everyone is guilty of some sort of sin.

So if you are outraged by the supposedly discriminatory practices of TWU, I suggest you get rip-roaring mad about Christian views on divorce, abortion, porn, murder, etc. or else you’re just a big fat hypocrite.

We certainly can't trust them to discern between faith and law…
