man i love those old 640 adv bikes but the mileage would worry me if I was way out in the bush . also been lusting over the 990.

The LC4 is actually a pretty solid engine. There are areas that can have problems but that goes for all bikes.

IIRC, this bike has almost 190,000km on it now.

trials it is then!

I have a doctors apointment at 10:30 so it would be 1:00 ioco or 2:00 Britannia

can bring the BBQ for apres ride chorizo's

Up to you. I'd love to ride Britannia but days are shorter these days so 2pm might be a late start? I'm ok with ioco. Can probably ride more and better for after ride BBQ

Does anyone insure their bikes for theft? I just tried to add my bike to my home policy, but they won't cover motorized vehicles.

nice looking bike j_claw. Last time I checked(years and years ago), theft was extremely expensive for motos. So expensive that it just wasn't really worth it. Please post up any info you find though, as things might have changed or I just have a bad memory.

Picked this up yesterday. The bike looks mint. Seller figures it might have 20 hrs of trail riding on it and I believe him. It was located in Edmonton so I don't think its seen too many rocks or hills…lol. Hopefully it's as good of runner as it looks.

Congratulations! It looks really clean!

For starting, I've found kicking it through slowly once and following with a solid fast kick works best for me. Be careful you don't twist the throttle because it won't start if you do. If it doesn't have the 9v assist installed you are using the power from your kick to fire up the FI system. It won't respond to a lazy kick at all.

Cascade has the PJ1 clutch tuner ultralight transmission oil. The clutch on mine had some drag using the Maxima it came with.

The shock adjustments are a pain to get at. You will need to modify a 3mm allen key to have a really short L part to reach the screw.

The last batch of premix I made was 110:1. The bike runs fine but I really notice the smell from the extra oil burning up. Prior to this I had been running 130:1. I'll be going back on the next batch.

Some forums (that you have most likely found already) if you have any problems.

the only disappointment was the owner cut the fender down.

Ya, by accident I didn't a pretty casual first kick and then a good one and she fired right up.

no choke or gas shut off is interesting.

Don had fenders in stock but stickers need to be ordered.

You also get to enjoy never having fuel leak all over the place when the bike is on its side. Mine has no stand so it gets tipped over whenever I stop.

I've wondered about that low fuel light too. I don't know if there is a factory installed sensor or not.

Marz fork so it very well could be "espresso" treatment although it looks a little too light in color for that.

either way…..take my money
