Uniquely Vancouver.

I would venture to say that most people who live in $1.2 million dollar homes wouldn't much care for $500.00 left or right a year.

However, I know this not to be true in Vancouver. Mostly because over half the people that do live in these homes could never afford to buy them at these prices, and those that have purchased at these prices are stretched beyond thin.

How anyone can argue that our housing costs are not detrimental to the progress of this city is beyond me.

On a related note, where are the ballots at? Anyone get one yet?

Interesting infographic.

Rest of the article:
Who takes transit to work in Metro Vancouver? (with infographic)
Metro Vancouver workers ride transit more and have a wider range of incomes than those in many other West Coast cities, according to data compiled …

I'll vote yes to anything that will make us drive less and burn less fossil fuels for the protection of the environment.

When are the ballots coming? Or will I not get one because I voted no on the phone survey?

Came in the mail today.

Voting would be more secure if they'd use more envelopes.

Seems like this was a BC Gov issue, now passed on to Translink. (Much like the Translink governance issues.)

Is B.C.'s toll bridge experiment failing? Port Mann, Golden Ears facing huge losses
http://bc.ctvnews.ca/is-b-c-s-toll-bridge-experiment-failing-port-mann-golden-ears-facing-huge-losses-1.2297794

Edit:
LOL!

The Golden Ears Bridge is about to report a loss in the range of $38 million last year, …

(talking about the new Port Mann) That bridge now loses about $80 million a year. …

Premier Christy Clark told reporters that the province wouldn’t make the same mistake again with the bridge.

“Anything we can learn from Port Mann we’re going to apply to George Massey. Every time we do a project like this we get better at it,” she said.

So they will be trying for $120M a year?

0.75% PST increase will cover the loss on those bridges.

0.75% PST increase will cover the loss on those bridges.

And then another 1% surtax on top of that to make up for the loss of toll revenue from reducing car trips through the super-efficient transit upgrades.

Soo - double face palm?

I guess everyone will bitch when their property taxes increase to pay for the necessary transit and transportation improvements in the greater Van area…

Great job, Vancouver area residents! You really showed those Translink bums!

Now, prepare to wait an hour for your next bus.
