so i bought a 74 chevy stepside , and ive put parking brakes and replaced the speedometer cable and the speedometer. so all that is working. now all i need to pass texas inspection in a horn… this chevy came with a gt grant steering wheel, the owner said the horn botton supplies the ground for the horn. and that if i disconnect the wire and touch it to the steering colum i can fallow the clicking noice to where the "horn solenoid" is? then wire up the horn from there…. well the clicking leads to the fuse box… now what? please tell me someone knows anything about this banged up american rust bucket truck please help me out. my isuzu is a dead or dieing gas eater, so i need to get this thing street legal

The horn relay is part of the fuse box, look on the cover for the description/location.

If that makes you wanna shoot yourself…I suggest shooting any aspirations you may have about becoming a mechanic or anything else in life that might require slight diagnostic abilities:lol:

You really have to have a working horn to pass inspection? I wonder if it's the same here. I don't have a working horn or speedometer (sorry officer, I was playing "take an edumacated guess at what speed we're going!").

diagnostic abilities, you need something to work with for that. if it had a horn at some point in time and it just didn't work then id use a multi meter and find the problem, however; i don not know how to wire it up from scratch due to the fact i am inexperienced. i bet you weren't any better at 17 years old.
