I really like the Tesla but the car in that video is nowhere near twice the cost.
Tesla 85 kWh Performance Model S: $103,300
BMW M5 Sedan: $101,500
Doubt a standard 60 or 80kWh Model S would beat an M5 like that.

Truth be told, I would guess that putting the S85 up against the M5 would yield a very similar result, with one caveat. You'll notice that in the race with the P85, the M5 was starting to catch up near the end. Against the S85, the Tesla would still pull away first, but the M5 would catch it sooner.

You can see just how quickly the Tesla ramps up to full power, where the M5 doesn't hit the 350 hp mark until it's over 100 mph!
One thing I can say for sure … I've driven a few fast cars in many years of driving, and there's been nothing as kick ass fun as the Tesla.
