Did anyone else get one of these shitty bikes back in the day? While all my friends had a proper BMX my absentee dad bought me 2 of these goddamn tanks during his flyby visits from Ontario. They must have weighed 100 lbs.
Not only did I have one, it was from the dump and broken clean in half. Absentee Dad welded it back together.
Probably that kids bike from after he landed/\

Looked cool though. I had a proper BMX at the beginning of the 80s, but compared to today's rides it was pretty underwhelming. Rode it until I bruised my whole crotch area in a crash on doubles at the local race track (which has been overgrown since the late 80s and is owned by a local company who is not interested in rebuilding it or even letting people take care of it). Still fun times tho.

Yup. But they just ate staircases. I took the gas tank off mine. It still ran without it.
I tried to pour gas into my "gas tank." Absentee dad wasn't there to see me go to the hospital.

Would it not make more sense if we all started out on great bikes to get hooked by the Two Wheelers?
If I remember correctly, I just liked that feeling of coasting along under my own power, getting away and exploring. When I discovered the local forests on an old cyclocross bike at the end of the 80s I was amazed at enjoying mother nature and feeling similar to skateboarding, surfing dirt.
Fun thing...remembering things is tricky, the older I get the more weird it gets, as if I am no longer sure about some memories.
