U.S. Social Security orders 174,000 hollow-point bullets

“.....with a malevolent fascist swine atop its titular apex, the pitiful wounded beast of a rotten, spiritually dead American Superpower is careening towards epic barbarism while pushing the species dangerously to the tipping points of extinction.”

"Just recently, we learned that the Department of Homeland Security, a super-agency established by Congress and the Bush-Cheney administration in the wake of the 9-11 attacks, had ordered 450 million rounds of .40 caliber hollow-point ammo, which will reportedly be used at a rate of 90 million shells a year over the five-year life of the contract. (That represents one bullet for every American citizen over the course of the next four years!)

The Department of Homeland Security told us that it has 135,000 personnel who are licensed to carry a weapon. That means the DHS is buying 667 bullets a year for every one of those people. Let[HTML_REMOVED]#8217;s say that each of those people runs through three gross of shells in annual training at a shooting range, which would represent a fair amount of target practice. That would still leave them with 235 deadly shells left to account for [HTML_REMOVED]#8212; and remember [HTML_REMOVED]#8212; this being the government, most of those licensed fire-arm carrying people are working desk jobs where most of their shooting involves their mouths or balled up paper fired at wastebaskets. Ooh, I've got one… hope this isn't a repost (or in the Apple patent thread… I'm not reading through that whole thing):

So everyone goes back to using regular cameras and video cameras. You cannot stop this kind of thing now without shutting down youtube. And if you do another vid site will take it's place very quickly. So you would have to shut down the internet. Good luck on that. If you didn't have a huge protest and or riot before, imagine taking away something as powerful as the internet. Anyone want to take guesses as to how long the "authority" would last?

So, I guess that means that they would also have to remove the ability to turn off the GPS. I love that company, they're swell.
The irony of this keeps getting better…

I just realized that last week I accidentally flew back from Toronto with a 150 ml tube of sunscreen in my carry-on baggage.

Planning a defense of entrapment.

Mars Rover Curiosity image.

The original is of pretty good resolution. If you have a zoom function, you can get in pretty close.
