Then there's Montana… Why are they so big-government there? Caring about what people do in their own homes, on their own time under a doctor's prescription.

Montana needs to stop being so socialist and left-leaning.

My favorite quote about GOP-size-of-government-hypocrisy has to be:

Government so small it can fit inside your vagina.

If fox news always says Obama is the worst president of all time, does that make Romney the worst candidate of all time?

And in other news, Puerto Rico held a referendum and came out in favour of becoming the 51st US state. I wanna know how they'll re-org the stars on the flag!

Also, seems a lot of Puerto Ricans don't understand the definition of "status quo".

http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/story/2012/11/07/puerto-rico-statehood.html

The two-part referendum asked whether the island wanted to change its 114-year relationship with the United States. Nearly 54 per cent, or 922,374 people, sought to change it, while 46 per cent, or 786,749 people, favoured the status quo. Ninety-six per cent of 1,643 precincts were reporting as of early Wednesday.

The second question asked voters to choose from three options, with statehood by far the favourite, garnering 61 per cent. Sovereign free association, which would have allowed for more autonomy, received 33 per cent, while independence got 5 per cent.

So … 46 per cent said "keep the status quo", yet on a separate question, 61 per cent said "let's become a state". So mathematically, at least 7 per cent of those who said "status quo" also said "become a state".

Did they not understand that those are mutually exclusive?

NBC's anchorman had a great statement about that after reluctantly having to address it on air. Something about "Trump, who has driven well past the last exit of relevance…Well, that happened."

The republicans are going to do whatever they can to thwart anything Obama wants to do
just as they've been doing for the last 4 yrs. Thing is (imo) that the next 4 yrs is going
to be the fruition of all the policies that have been implemented in the last 4. The right
understand this and one reason why they really wanted in this time, was to take credit for
the economy. With Obama back in for another 4, the right will do whatever they can to slow
that growth and stifle job creation. I don't think it's going to work, but it might be
effective enough for them to come back in 4 and say "it would have been better under us".

Whatever, the real reason my vote went to Obama was for the civil liberties and social programs
the right wants to cut. Maybe even getting the USA out of war. Although that brings with
it a RIF for the military and the corresponding increase in unemployment.

I don't think that that's the way it worked. I think that the second questions was an "if yes…." question. So 61% of the people who voted to not keep the status quo voted for statehood. Hopefully that makes sense….

The referendum's ballot consisted of two questions. Voters were asked first whether they wanted the current territorial status to continue. Regardless of how voters answered that question, they were then asked to express their preference among the three alternatives to the current status: statehood, complete independence, or nationhood in free association with the United States

Not quite as you described, but I guess Q2 more or less requires the voter to assume "if status quo changes, which is preferable?" So I guess that makes some sense, but the CBC article was sadly lacking that rather key information.

Either way, I'm glad you brought it up. Definitely one of the biggest pieces of news to come out of this election. Potentially a 51st state, in our lifetime! We'll see if anything actually comes of it though…

The Republicans won't let that happen. The last thing they want is another liberal minded
state.

Obama is likley better for Canada and Romney is likely done as a presidential candidate at his age

The hispanic vote is huge down south THE fastest growing most obama friendly and the black vote is not far behind

they likely swung the popular vote more than anyone
