Holy shit, I’m glad I’m not a betting man. But I am thankful the Oilers are sucking to save me the ribbing from my friends.
That, and it’s a crying shame Chris Cuthbert isn’t calling games.

too bad to hear that
Remember when it was just a hockey game and not some preforming arts spectacle beforehand?
Bring back Howie Meeker & Dick Irvin. Brian McFarlane & Dave Hodge. Old school.

That is a classic clip. He paid for that criticism didn't he?
If the Capitals keep the physicality up for game7, one would think they'd win again. I'm pulling for them and not just Ovie.
I havent been following the league much this year so I'm still trying to figure out who exactly is on Vegas.
I think it is hilarious that 6 of Vegas' top 10 scorers in the regular season were specifically packaged with other picks/trades by their GMs to ensure that Vegas would take them off their hands in the draft.
As good as Vegas has played, the playoff's have been all Fleury.

Interesting b/c all I've heard about how Vegas put the team together, the league will not be doing the next lottery draft the same way. And does Fleury have something to prove b/c I dont remember him being this good in Pittsburgh but I'll chalk that up to either the Luongo effect or Canucks effect - where the Canucks played better in front of their back up, Fleury had some big names in front of him in Pitts.
Pittsburgh let Fleury go because they were betting the future on Murray and Fleury did not want to be a backup. He was pretty handy to have around in the first two rounds last year when Murray injured himself in the warmup of their first playoff game.
The league has already said the draft for Seattle will be almost identical in format. I expect the GMs will be more careful about who they don't protect, and it is unlikely that a goalie as good as Fleury will be available. Would not bet on the Cup being paraded in the Emerald CIty anytime soon.
one thing to consider is that Vegas had the same entry draft as in previous expansion years but this time round they were the only team, so they were able to take the best selection from each team they drafted from. basically their odds of getting decent players was way higher than it should have been and hence part of the reason for their success.
A lot of Canadians on the Vegas roster with a number of them, ironically enough, hailing from Winterpeg.

Isn't that why we got Ron McLean?
Vegas is the first salary cap era expansion team, no?
