It goes both ways and you don't need to be from Van to be condescending (not saying you are). I grew up in very small town (like, not big enough for a Subway small) and the condensing attitude of people from larger but still small towns was super annoying, so you get in a bit of an us vs them attitude. "What do you even do there?" was perhaps my least favourite question. It's the pecking order of population.
well i will tell you what we don't do is live in garden suites
Condescending people from both sides.
Small town " blah blah The big Chity....blah blah blah Cidiot...."
City "blah blah rural hicks.... blah blah rednecks...."
Anyone disparaging either side just showing you a glimpse into their small mindedness.
Can we get back to complaining about Vancouver instead of complaining about each other?
