The Camper, Trailer or Adventure Vehicle Thread

By the way my own (temporary) set-up for my Touran. It needs some refinement but works alright.

Basically two plywood boards which are attached to each other at the end of the day, both front seats have to be pushed forward as far as possible.

Leaves a space of 2 mtrs. Camping chairs, table and food in a box go below. Behind the seats I store the luggage and water.

Definitely cheaper than the set-up I could buy for this car.

I always lock mine to the vehicle or a tree.

I have a Thule hitch rack with a lock which is pretty nice since I can "fold" it away from the rear so I can open the tailgate without having to remove it.

Got it out of Chilliwack for $8500

I made the move from a capped Tacoma to a capped Chevy 1500.  No adventures yet, but immediate impressions are the extra space is amazing and my average fuel economy on a 6.2L Crew Cab is 25%-33% better than my 4.0L Accesscab Tacoma.

Reviving this thread with a full frontal post new grill, bumper and skid plate install. The build is starting to take shape. Lift kit is the obvious next step but thats gonna have to wait until next year.

I still do drugs though.

I'm just the kind of addict that can put off the fix long enough to work 60 hour weeks....

Back on topic I've been seeing some ads for some bare shell one piece carbon fiber slide in camper attachments for pickup trucks.

Basically you buy the shell then it's up to you how you want to build the interior. I think they're around 4 grand give or take depending on bed size.

I would love that as an ongoing project. Start off with nothing but some plywood and some insulation and a window but over time going all the way to fancy wood paneling, plumbing, solar power...etc..
