why would you want to sleep in a tent???

Yesturday I did a kayak shuttle for some americans who had flew in from the SE US to run a bunch of creeks, they rented a RAV,met their creek kayaks at the freight yard which had been shipped on a pallet.

What looks like a a standard pallet is exactly the right size to fit on top of the rails on a RAV (probably lots of other compacts with rails too) so they protected the rails with some packing [HTML_REMOVED] duct tape, cam strapped the pallet to the roof rails and tied the boats on top of the pallet … made an awesume totally free roof rack

Quite ingenious altho them fucking college boys forgot to fill the tank before heading out of town so they weren't that smart

I worked with a guy that was running a super low static dropped kombi a few years ago. He drove it daily to work back in Sydney. Ended up at a chiro getting his back fixed up because of the shitty roads haha..

just read the backstory on this one. though the shell looks fairly original, there's extensive chassis work to make it a practical / reliable roller with functional suspension at that ride height. i.e., bagged, tubbed, raised drivetrain, etc. apparently he's going to make more mods so he can lay the body properly on the ground when aired out. want.

I've been seen with 2x4's tied to the factory rails…boat or whathaveyou strapped to the 2x4's…it works :)

I thought I would post up my current set up before the beast aka the Farm Truck goes off to its well deserved retirement on the farm.

She was a 2006 Duramax Crew Cab 2500 pulling a 19ft Hideout travel trailer. Special modifications included bodged together canoe and bike racks made of spare 2x4s. The truck had a front hitch receiver mount that I could attach a bike rack to - but usually used for a portable winch to assist in dressing moose in the field. Set the trailer up with a dual 6v set up and 150w solar panel that sees us through most long weekends without charging (I have a small Honda generator for backup).

Sold the truck as it was becoming more and more of a daily driver where I had purchased it to be a weekend toy hauler- kids will change the best laid plans. Went to a half ton on gas. I will miss pulling out on long hills and passing everything in sight. I will also miss the 8ft box. Could fit bikes in the bed with the tool box. Our shuttling record was 12 bikes and riders plus a driver. I could fit up to 8 groms in the cab alone and still drive in relative comfort.

The poor girl hated commuting and errand running though. She will be much happier on the farm.

What we have here is the Porsche 911 of vans!

And it meets emissions! ( as long as all four cylinders are sparking)

My buddies dad put a 911 engine in one of those vans…passing everything on the hills with a family of 6

that was a REALLY nice truck but probably not optimal for chasing ambulances and taking the girls to ballet

Yep the half ton is much better getting the girls to ballet.
