pshawww.. That's nothing. It's got another 5 engine rebuilds left in it, especially with the body restoration work done.

Why take your adventure van on adventures when you can just stay home and work on it?

Even though our adventure van ™ goes on lots of road trips, I spend more time working on [HTML_REMOVED] cleaning it than my other 2 vehicles combined. Likely because the van has a much harder life than the others.

^ true enough, I sweep the floor in my van way more often than any floor in my house :) Then again our house never sees sand/mud/dirt/ as much as our adventure van does. Plus dirt bikes and mtn bikes get washed before placed in the house however that is not an option in the backcountry.

Hopefully this doesn't blow up going over the Coq. Towing weight maxed out at 5000lbs.

I drove up the coq on Friday. Couldn't believe how many camper vans were on the shoulder over heating.

Your 4Runner is rated at 5000lbs towing max, and your trailer is (assuming a 2013 198RD) 3720 pounds empty. That's pushing it already, without loading anything in the trailer at all. I wonder what the rear axle weight rating is and especially the GCWR.

Be careful; and make sure your trailer brakes are setup correctly.

Leave the cast iron frying pans at home.

I assume you've been over the Coq by now. How'd you make out?

Disclaimer: I probably stress way to much over towing and weight ratings and so with my most recent upgrade, I elected to go massive overkill with the towing vehicle. My last setup was a Tacoma rated at 6500lbs towing capability and my trailer was 4200 pounds. It managed and I never had any problems even carrying full fluid tanks and 4 adults over Hwy 3, but I had to baby it through the lower gears for the hills.

I don't think these concerns are unwarranted. I used my 2007 XTerra (roughly 5000lb tow max) to tow a 3000lb (empty) camp trailer to Burning Man last year. When you throw in some bikes, two generators, food, water, etc and eventually swapping the weight of the full water tank for full grey and black water tanks - it got slow and scary. I had a brake controller and rear airbags installed. Overall it was an experience I'm not eager to repeat. It felt like my truck was struggling all the time. Fuel economy plummeted.

Anyone got any good pics of a older tent trailer with a dirt bike rack modification ?
ive seen guys weld onto the frame and add a rack in the front ( extend the tung ) Also seen a one bike rack on the top roof but im not to sure about that one and the last one i can figure is weld a receiver onto the rear bumper and tie into the frame and mount my bike rack on it.

I didn't have the cash to buy one of the newer tent trailers with a extra box already in the front or deck
im looking for some ideas to weld the trailer up a bit to fit one bike cause i have a SUV that we travel with

Adding the weight of a rack and dirt bike to the rear of a light trailer will really mess with its balance. Tongue weight and trailer loading is a critical part of safe towing so I would be very careful with any additions.

Beefing up the tongue and frame to carry the bike up front would be safer. Check your axle and tire ratings before you add anything though.
