For outboard stuff is powder coating the way to go? Some magic paint combo perhaps?

Bed liner or rock guard spray or rhino liner is a good all weather option for stuff that stays outside on your vehicle

there,s POR 15 or something like that , 4x4 guys like to use it , you can brush it on and it,s damn near bullet proof , think it is only shiney black for colors , I might do the frame and bottom of the floors in my van while I gut and remodel it this year .

I talked to a buddy that's in the industrial coatings biz that used to be into the Jeep thing and he's suggesting powder coating or a polyurea coating. Both cost more than paint, but I'd like to just do this once.

Check out what this guy did inside to his van. He even flips them to make money.

His 1st van is along the lines of how I plan to redo our van , bikes in the van under the bed . One thing I did not see in either of his builds is a shower of some kind , and some kind of toilet .

Really nicely done. This is how I imagine a van to look like.

If I was going that way I'd take cues from Outside Van as the toilet and shower would be great to have.

Yup Momma says she needs some place warm and dry for late night bathroom visits, and at least some way of rinsing one off after a long hot day . No more 4 days of racing and riding and showering at home after the weekend is done LOL .

And dear god that van is nice , spendy I bet , to buy something like that it,s a minimum of $70k usd . I found a digital book of converting Sprinter vans into similar builds , was rough;y $35 usd to buy . After spending several hours reading thru it , it was a cheap investment for ideas and information for doing similar projects and will come in very handy with our project.

A plumbed shower/toilet would be nice but what a headache. A solar-heated manual-pump shower using the doors as an enclosure isnt luxury but it works pretty well. Same for a bucket toilet and biodegradable bags.

Yup

Coleman has a little hot water on demand system that can be used for a shower set up .

There is also those little portable toilets you can get at CT for $150 or so that are nicer to use than a bucket and bags .

But yeah you are correct there is many a way to add luxury,s in a simpler way.

You can run the showers on the outside too, although I'm not convinced that's a Canada tested solution.

With Outside Van you supply the van and their builds can get up to +$150k in stuff. Crazy, crazy money but nice to see what could be if money wasn't an option.

I'm just not convinced the behemoth of a vehicle fits what I really like to do. I love camping at the top of FSRs and although a 4x4 Sprinter is a capable vehicle I can think of a few times I'd be trying to turn around compared to sneaking through with my Taco.

Looks like a quality outfit for sure…

Good point on exploring with a large vehicle…gotta be aware at all times going forward how you're going to get out. Any vehicle too…but even more important with something so long, plus the overhead clearance….
