No it doesn't
SolarCity tells Bloomberg that a 9-year-lease for the 10kWh Powerwall costs $5,000, including installation, maintenance, inverter, and control system. Buying the system upfront costs $7,140.
If you don't do the installation work yourself, costs are going to be expensive. 10KWhr isn't alot of power, 20KWhr is more reasonable.
Yeah just noticed that although Elon said it was built in during that presentation. Still not a deal breaker. One cool thing about this is a lot of off grid systems use large lead acid batteries that have to be kept in a separate area from the living space as they emit a toxic gas while charging. They need regular maintenance too. Not likely you can get ten years of consistent use out of them either. The power wall on the other hand can be put anywhere in the house and if 10kwh isn't much just get two as they are designed to be joined together.
A flooded lead acid battery pack that would store as much power as the power wall would be a bout 1000-1500 dollars plus a shitload more headaches.
