Good sushi joint with a good wine selection? Like nice enough to brag about and bring some visitors to? In Van city? I have no idea? Does it exist?

And i dont know wine, and i have not tried too much.

WTF, Over?

Sushi and wine aren't things you typically find together. It's usually sake or nothing at all.

Having said that, try http://mikurestaurant.com/. I think the place is a giant overpriced rip-off, but if you want to show off to visitors, this would be the place to do it.

They have a second restaurant in Yaletown: Minami. Also excellent and pricey as hell.

Can't help with the wine either but my local sushi joint is Zipang on Main - of the dozen or so places I've been so far in Van it's my clear winner. On the pricier side but not too bad.

No seriously though.. minami and miku are for people that don't know sushi.

If I wanted to impress guests, I'd bring them here:

Minami is offering a table d'hote as part of Dine Out Vancouver for $38pp, one of my coworkers went for dinner there last Friday and hasn't stopped talking about it. So if you're planning on going in the next week, definitely check them out.

Miku also has one

Tojo's /end thread. After you and your friends enjoy the 6 course Omakase menu for $120 per person they will be suitably impressed when you drop the tab on your platinum visa. This is the man that brought Sushi to Vancouver and invented the California Roll.

Yep. The food there is good, but it's far from traditional sushi (don't know if that's what you're actually looking for though).

If you're looking for stellar sushi that isn't Tojo-expensive, go to Octopus Garden. Tojo's is more baller, but you'll pay for it.

I really wish now I'd had Omakase when friends treated us to Tojo's.

Place was amazing but I wonder what mind blowing non menu items they might have served.

Tojo's is where unsuspecting tourists go. It's piss poor value.

Trail Rider's suggestion of octopus garden isn't bad.

if you're willing to make a trip to Seatle, then Shiro's omakase is decent and a hell of a lot cheaper than Tojos.

For smaller restaurants that aren't fancy, but are good try sushi hachi, ajisai or Shima-ya
