to insure a 2005 GSXR 600 it would be 104$ a month now for a CBR125 it would be 79$ a month for a new 2009 and my driving record ive paid off so my insurance is at -10% insted of +40

it'll be +40 in no time once you get comfortable on a 600.

Completely agree. My boss is from Ontario and he rode bikes there for 30 years. Moved here and sold his bike within 5 years because "people here are just fucking stupid".

Yes. This summer alone I've seen two people who got destroyed by two separate drivers who didn't pay attention.

Once at a 2 way stop, the bike has right of way on the main road, no cars comming on the opposite direction so he does a left turn, then dumb bitch did a left turn from her stop sign, failed to check the rider doing a left turn into the other side of her lane. I was behind this woman going, "WTFWTFWTF SHITSHITSHIT" fer reelz then the poor guy hit her right fender, flew over the hood, landed on the other lane, rolls to ditch (maple ridge has ditches!) Then the woman just freezes, and panicks and cries in her car while the guy lays moving, but in pain. wows.

Watching that pretty much sealed the deal for me. The biker somewhat slowed the fuck down realizing the woman was gonna pop out of the stop sign but too late.

Buddy of mine started riding when he was working in Cali, kept his bike when he came up here and only made it 3 or 4 months before some woman blew a stop sign and flipped him. Brain damage, but they're not sure how much yet. He's just getting to his mid-20s. Bah.

Take the course first, then buy.

I took the course November 07, bought a 1990 Yamaha SRX 400 over the winter sold it, didn't loose any cash and got a 2004 SV650S as my second and first real bike.

A GSXR600 is too much for a first bike and a CBR125 is, within a few weeks, too little….

Just get an older 80s kawi or honda 750. It'll still do 220+ and get there pretty quick. My 83 Kawasaki gpz 750 would run neck n neck with my buddies stang which could run low-mid 12s. He would always come around me at the top end though.

This bike was $1200, didnt cost alot to insure. Qualified for collecter before i stripped it down.

Too bad I wont be able to fix my my KZ750 before I leave to australia.

I will be taking the course ASAP but if you all say a 600 is to much even after the course prob should just get a 125 or a 250

Go 250 Ross. I have far less experience here than most, but a 250 has good enough power without being difficult to handle, and isn't a total slug.

Just as an FYI. I think the courses are cheaper in the US. I actually thought of doing the course there but never got around it.
