I hate swapping cartridge blades all the time and would love to have something I could use for the rest of my life if well cared for.
how often do you shave and how close a shave do you need?

I shave 2-3 times a week and if I'm not baby face smooth my wife gives me nothing lol.
Sounds like a safety razor would be a good first step but I would like to move into a solid blade eventually.
You can also extend the life of your modern razors by sharpening them on leather or jeans etc.
Looks a bit silly but worth a try.
I have done this and it works. Kept a single mach3 going for over six months.
I had to look up to see that there actually is a place called Askmen.com [HTML_REMOVED]- What the hell??
Anyway, I also use a double edge safety razor, I buy blades on Amazon, about $15 or so for a 100 blades which is a years supply.
AskRealMen is NSMB.com NBR.
Ditto on using real shaving cream. The stuff that comes out of the can is not real shaving cream. So far in my limited experience, Proraso is my fav shaving cream. The only other tube in my rotation (have yet to get some shaving soap) is Pacific Shaving's cream
I brought that Pacific stuff to Nica as the place asked people to bring eco friendly shampoos and soap since everything ends up back in the ground again
Why slag free swag?
ummm, as your doctor i recommend against riding with a scaphoid fracture.
This issue regarding high end shaving cream… What brand would most likely be most internationally available? Using Gilette gel right now but want to try something smoother.
my dad had a razor I found tucked away in a drawer of old stuff (probably from the 40's or 50's) that at 1st glance looked like the safety razors that use the disposable blades BUT this had a permanent blade
You stropped the razor by taking the handle off the blade and putting it into a device that worked the blade against a rubber surface
Nivea is a surprisingly good shave cream but it is not available in the US. Pretty much everywhere else though. AND, it is cheap.
Sounds good, but which one are you referring to? "Extra Moisture Shaving Foam" or "Shaving Gel"?
Its been a long time since I seen it so that would be cool, make sure you take picts of the sharpener as well
Found lots of local e-stores when searching those premium lather brands. Thanks guys.
Men are nerdy as hell.

Was looking for soap and ended up with a safety razor, boar brush, soap and pre-shave cream.
Merkur 37c slant and the eucalyptus menthol proraso stuff.
I think you can pick up merkur razors at the House of Knives, as well as other shaving supplies, oddly enough
Also, an alum block will be your best friend
