from district of squamish website:

Update (9:55 p.m.) Fire update: the Vancouver Fire Boat is now on scene. The boat that was in dock has been pulled safely away, and there were no injuries amongst the crew. Squamish Terminals crew are also all accounted for.

Vancouver Coastal Health is reinforcing the Shelter-in-place message:

Stay indoors with doors and windows closed;
Turn off ventilation systems if possible;
If you must travel outside, cover your nose and mouth with a wet towel;
Do not try and go out to observe the fire.

Anyone exposed to the smoke who experiences difficulty breathing, particularly those with underlying lung problems such as asthma or emphysema, should seek medical attention immediately.

Always wondered. Does the Squamish Terminal have a tug based there? And out of curiosity do they manufacture some with fire fighting capability? Just speculating that if they did have a tug based in Squamish it would be a capability you would want I would think.

Tugs in squamish only have on board fire fighting capability. The big escort tugs in Van harbour have Fi-fi systems that can fight fires. The terminal fire is currently burning under the dock so it will eventually require a low water and a skiff to get under there to fully extinguish it.

Why no outrage? This is a way worse envrionmental disaster than 2000 liters of bunker oil. And it took how long for a firefighting boat to arrive from vancouver? But its okay fires are accidents… LOL.

Nah, it's all because of Christy the Clown's LNG scheme.

[conspiracy theory]I'd wager that the black smoke was from the pitch and tar in the piles for the docks … which were purposely set on fire to make way for the new LNG terminal.[/conspiracy theory]

Yah yah … I know that the LNG terminal is set to be built at the old Howe Sound pulp mill site, but still …

WoooOOOOooooo
