Hopefully the wind dies down … there's often a wind ripping through the Chekamus valley.

Last time I went out there to watch the windsurfers the porta-can was tied down with concrete blocks to keep it from blowing over … prevailing gales?

I believe winds are due to sea/land breezes that blow up and down the sound and valley with Howe Sound and Chekamus Canyon acting as a big wind funnel.

"Squamish wind is thermal. Heavy cold air from the interior falls down the valley and causes an outflow. Warm air in the interior rises and is replaced by the inflow wind up the valley. Generally the cold air outflow happens at night and in the early morning. The inflow starts around noon and goes to around 5 or 6, but can last until around 8."

Is this the dock or the ship on fire? Seeing FB posts claiming the ship is burning.

Both I believe. The ship was burning then spread to the dock.
When I came down the mountain this evening the whole valley looked full of dark rank smoke. Thought about spending the night elsewhere but as much as it stinks outside its still ok inside. Really shitty situation for sure though.

The air is thick up here. Around 7:30 it was hard to See Alice lake/debecks area from Canadian Tire. All the fans on in the house and windows closed. Doesn't seem noticeable in the house. Hope they get it sorted out soon.
