Dude, I really hope your trolling.
If you're trying connect a tasering incident at the airport to the increased profile of the Vancouver real estate market, you really are reaching.

Actually read that is some financial post somewhere the last few years.

First comes the news …

http://www.news1130.com/2010/03/25/survey-olympics-raised-vancouvers-profile-with-americans/

Then comes the tourists and buyers.

http://bc.ctvnews.ca/b-c-boom-spike-in-international-tourists-travelling-to-the-province-1.2913690

That's right, even bad news is Good News. The Tasering actually showed that police here are unreasonable to the better of the unreasonable elsewhere. And it did make international news. It's just one cog in Vancouver's international news cycle. Vancouver flew under the radar for quite some time before that and the Olympics. Expo and the riots are probably the two other most newsworthy stories about Vancouver.

That and also getting ranked top place to live in the world a few times the last few years.

Why else is Whistler now hiring Chinese ski instructors en-masse for this Spring and next year? You did see the mass Chinese ski instructor interviews, right?

Bullshit. Can so. They do. But they won't cut their margins right now and the labour market in BC is seriously constrained. They cannot get enough people to build right now.

You're not very good at math.

The Olympics did way more for Vancouver's profile than the tasering.

Beyond that, you are completely delusional. To confirm, you are a homeowner yourself? Just want to prove my point that anyone can get a mortgage.

Finally a good deal!

12-1026 Glacier View Drive
Squamish, BC, V8B 0G1 Garibaldi Highlands
$749,000
3 Bed 3 Bath 2219 SqFt Townhouse

http://www.rew.ca/properties/R2071915/12-1026-glacier-view-drive-squamish?property_browse=squamish-bc

Oooh! That is a nice one!

If you have $150K down, and go 30 years, you can get that for $2,430 monthly.

Given how close it is to quest, there is a good possibility you can rent it to some Quest students for $3,500-$4,000 per month and put the winnings into paying off the mortgage early.

Or AirBNB it.

Given the area that one is in, I don't doubt it will sell at Saturday's open house.
Saturday, May 28 - 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM
Sunday, May 29 - 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM

Don't even blink. Just call and buy it now.

Not just any students. These are Quest students.
They have the highest tuition in the Northern Hemisphere.

Quest tuition this year 2016-2017 is $32,500.
Quest board (and books) is an extra $12,250.

$4,000 for a whole house on a hill away from the Dons at Quest Room and Board is thee best deal going.

When I first moved to Squamish in 09 I rented a unit in the same complex for $1800 a month. Sounds like a bargain now.

Regarding your earlier queries, I do think that the gondola has helped a little in bringing attention to Squamish. When I first moved here my wife commented that it seemed like the town was dying a bit. Prices were falling, vacancies increasing and restaurants closing. You could ride all day and not see anyone. I used to shuttle and see only the guys I was with the whole afternoon, and no other cars anywhere in that whole zone. Now there's sometimes literally 100 cars between Quest, the lower lot and the half nelson area. It wouldn't be wrong to say there are 50 times as many people riding here as there was 7 years ago. I've heard that the same holds true for climbing. And kiting is booming as well.

This was starting to happen before the gondy though. Trails like Half Nelson have brought literally thousands of people here from the city and many of those people saw what was on offer and moved here. I think every little thing, from the gondola, new trails, windsport society, improved shopping, nice looking new housing and commercial building etc, has added up to people realizing there's more here than Tim Hortons on the way to Whistler, if you like to play in the mountains or the water.

Of course, the other suggestion that you can cash out in Van and buy cheaper here is a huge factor. I had a bit of a look at places like Nelson or Revy thinking in the same vein, but the reality is I don't want to leave Squamish. The fact that Van and Whis are so close, but you don't have to deal with the negatives of living in either of them is a huge plus; you get to live in a small town with like minded people that are setting up permanently. This really makes it special. Well for now anyway. Things are changing very fast. Mostly good at the moment but things could get out of hand fast. And as far as housing goes, it's already out of hand but no more so than Whistler has been for many years. This ~100km stretch from NV to Pemby truly is one of the best places in the world for outdoor recreation, and Squamish is no longer the ugly cousin.

I blame the trail builders.
They make all these BC towns desirable places to live.

f-in trail builders!

I think there's a little bit of truth in this, especially when they are as good as the ones you build :)

Not sure why you have an axe to grind with Quest. But it's absurd to say it's the highest tuition in the northern hemisphere. Easy to list off a dozen or more colleges in the USA with higher fees.

"The total 2015-2016 cost of attending Harvard College without financial aid is $45,278 for tuition and $60,659 for tuition, room, board and fees combined."

The numbers for Quest University are ($1 Can = $0.7676 US)

$24,700 and $36,300

Not that facts mean anything here on NBR Fanatsy World. Or Harvard has relocated to Antarctica.

Also, there is so little going on in the RE market here that "B.C. real estate companies join Christy Clark on trade mission to Asia"

Maybe that will help shake up our sleepy RE market, huh?

True. But there is nothing as absurdly small or unknown as Quest that comes close to fees like Quests. They are the most expensive Canadian university.

maybe you should ask the question why quest is so more expensive when compared to other Canadian universities. try expanding your google searches first before you take off on absurd lines of thinking - and i use that term loosely. it's like you're whining about the cost of a high end car compared to an econo box and only comparing them on the one factor of cost - it's utterly stupid.
