spirituality/religion-what do you believe?

I was raised Roman Catholic, but now I think that most religions are the same: Thousands of years ago when man needed a way to explain why we live, why we die, why the sun comes up, why summer follows winter, etc. the answer was god said so ( or Budda or Allah or whoever). In our modern world we know the real answers to these questions, and the ones we don't know are still attributed to a supernatural power, when really science has just not provided the answer yet. I think that the basic ideas of religion are good (Do unto others and whatnot), but the idea that some supernatural being created the earth and heaven in 6 days and rested on the 7th? Gimme a break. And churches/synagogues/wherever else? Come in, be quiet, repeat these phrases, give us some money on the way out or your going to hell….

Has any one told their parent that you are an aetheist (if you are one) or what ever? I know if i told my parents, they would be REALLY disappointed. Not that they are especialy religous or anything but they would probably feel like bad parents or somthing. I dont think i would ever tell them.

that's not religion, that's ethics.

"Well, I believe in the soul, the cock, the pussy, the small of a woman's back, the hangin curveball, high fiber, good scotch… that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone, I believe there ought to be a Constitutional ammendment outlawing astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft core pornography, opening your presents on Christmas morning rather than on Christmas Eve, and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three nights." - Crash Davis

I agree with most of that (except I don't have any idea who Susan Sontag is, delete soft core, and three nights is a damn long kiss. I'll go with 3 minutes max).
