I've always been of the mind that if I need a small part, buy more than I need(if it's cheap) as you or someone you know will need it down the road. It often has paid off big time but sadly my collection just one big pile on the work bench.

Ruling out some cheaper things that could be broken first (low-water switch, thermal cut-off on brew boiler). It's looking like a busted PID.
