I'm looking for a few spots, ideally on the water, that are a few hours (could include ferry) from Vancouver. Single female solo camper so nothing in the middle of nowhere but ideally a site that has a bit of a hike in or at least no RV hookups!

Looking for a "go to" for weekends when i'm looking for little R[HTML_REMOVED]R and peace and quiet.

First thoughts are Sunshine Coast, Pender, Galiano? But would like to hear from people who found awesome spots they are willing to share.

BC Backroads Mapbook is your friend.

Theres some beautiful oceanfront rec sites north of Powell River that were empty on a Labour Day weekend we went.

PR is more than a couple of hours from Metro Van though. It takes about 5 hours min. if you don't have to wait for either ferry.

Porpoise Bay provincial is on the water and no RV hook ups although there will be RVs in the campground.

Saltery Bay is another provincial, but more than a couple of hours due to drive and ferries.

There are a few rural campsites at the lakes (North and Klein Lakes) near Egmont. You wouldn't have to do the additional ferry up to PR.

Hike into Smugglers Cove PP in Half-moon Bay camp on the ocean

Homesite Creek isn't by the water but there are biking trails around there. Tetrahedron would be hike/snowshoe up to a cabin.

Hot springs past Pemberton?

Why slag free swag?

ummm, as your doctor i recommend against riding with a scaphoid fracture.

The only issue here is that there aren't a ton of spots in the camp ground and it can get filled with local kids partying. If you have access to a boat (Kayak?) there are some great islands in the cove you can camp on though.

We've got the book Camp Free in BC and it has a good amount of sites in all parts of the province. We haven't tried any of the sites around here, but had great success in the interior.

If you go up Coquihalla there's Murray Lake off the west side of the highway that has some nice rec sites. Off the east side if you past Brookmere there's lots of small lakes that have rec sites. Or if you go up to Merritt area I've camped at Gwen Lake rec site which is nice. It's close to Iron Mtn for riding as well.

Explore Indian Arm.. You can get a kayak rental out of Deep Cove
Theres some nice camp sites on a couple of the smaller islands on the way up, and at the top
Easy to get to, google and you will find

You can also get there by 4x4 or mountain bike coming in from Squamish.
