There's some sweet ass narrative's here *.  Granted, less now that there's only six of us left.

I'll buy a beer or six for the best one for why it's important to send our poor to "war".

But why do those that earn more NEED to be taxed more?

That just sounds dumb to me.

Those who have more pay more, and why can't everyone just be happy for what they have and celebrate the success of their friends, neighbours etc..

I think we should send everyone to war. And in Canada, we send not only send our best but our brightest. Why is it that historically the "poor" go to war? Because thats the label they get slapped with, and there are more folks that make less...So more wood for the pile.

Why is it that historically the "poor" go to war?

In the 19th century because of class structure. In the 20th because the owning classes work loopholes just like they do with taxes.

Now, the poor go to war now because all the jobs have been automated or shipped offshore. That's why 'merica don't need no draft no more, eh?

Good one!

The "class" label is outdated and unnecessary. People are people. Different colours, different passions, different socio-economic conditions...but people.

Well, a lot of the nobility and upper class that was slowly developping in the 19th century went to war as well. War was considered the continuation of politics with different means (Clausewitz). It was pretty much considered posh to join the army. Of course, the "grunts" in the front lines of all those cabinet wars were ordinary people whereas noble sons learned how to direct the carnage, or were allowed to lead a party or a cavallery charge.

True, as might be the classic label of "right" or "left" in politics.

Hey there big guy.  How is the road trip??

Personally, I want everyone to keep what they can.  I am sure there is bitterness with some that want to tax the rich, but I don't care if others have lots of money.  For me, it is the long-term issue of inequality.  The increasing gap between rich and poor is baked into capitalism, so taxation is one of the few tools to try and keep the gap from growing to the point that society breaks down (for more on that read any of RM's posts).  Really the only time the poor have made significant gains anywhere on the wealthy are during major disruptions.  That last one was WW2, which is why the 50's was the golden age of the middle class.

Inheritance tax is taxing money that's already been taxed.  Evil.

Every dollar you've ever earned has been taxed multiple times.

Over half of OECD countries have some kind of inheritance tax, because almost every transfer of money is taxed in most countries.
