Signal strength depends on where you are, but I haven't had any issues yet.

No, probably not, unless it is unlocked and has an AWS band. Newer Samsung, BB and the iPhone 5 will work if unlocked.

No. You need a phone that supports the AWS frequency.

Get one that also has GSM and you can roam on other networks, and pay per use. If you don't roam much, Wind is a much better deal than the major carriers. Even a company like Mobilicity is cheap and they give some US roaming minutes every month.
