Link: I like the more philosophic side of physics…the parts that we can't explain such as singularities and such are truely interesting. Even general relativity and explanations of spacetime and the universe being curved are really interesting to me.
I've been taking ToK (Theory of Knowledge) for two years now, and while it CAN be interesting at times, most of the time it bores me/angers me. I like discussions on logic and ethics…but most of the other topics are quite asnine IMO.
Superman: English is incredibly subjective. I was amazed I managed to pull of an A this year. I had a 85.4 going in, and an 86 on the provincial just BARELY got me over the line. It never has been my strongest subject, for exactly those reasons. While some will agree, and some will disagree, my advice would be to simply figure out what the teacher wants and give it to them. Many parents will scoff at this, and call it cynical and a poor attitude, but it's what will get you the marks, which will get you the money, which will get you a real education. Of course, that's not to say it goes away completely (or even at all) in university, but hopefully you'll be able to learn something along the way.
This is one of the reasons I like the sciences too. Right and wrong. Show work for full marks. I can do that. I can take what I've been taught and apply it to situations, and predict results. I can see how to derive things and show things once I've been shown how.
One of other major problems in English is my sarcastic nature. Sometimes, I find the topics so idiotic, that I start writing so sarcastically that I get bad marks. We're supposed to write a story to show some purpose or moral that sounds like it was directly ripped from an after school special. So, I take it, I exaggerate, I make fun of the topic in the way I write it. Teachers don't usually look kindly on this, and usually take it at face value (kind of ironic considering that they're preaching looking deeper into writing) and give you a bad mark.
My advice: suck it up and give em what they want. It sounds like you know what it is. Get the marks. Let the education come later.
