I was listening to Owen Shroyer being questioned in the Sandy Hook deposition and he was asked; "what does free speech mean to you?"
The word for word answer was "The freedom to speak without fear of consequences"

I know the standard definition I just want to know how Shogun defines it. It's a question free speech champions don't like to answer because it either exposes them as believing it's a one sided concept (I.e. I can say whatever I want but if you challenge me on any of it you're oppressing me) or they have to admit that their freedom of speech actually hasn't been infringed.

If I was Zeus for a day, Owen Shroyer would be cursed to punch himself in the balls repeatedly.
People like him like to conflate 'freedom from (governmental) reprisal' with 'freedom from consequences'. And because of the sad state of education, MAGA dumb dumbs lap it up.

I think Elon bought Twitter for what he feels is free speech but also because it's the most baller rich guy thing you could possibly do. Trump whines about being banned while a real rich dude just buys it. He is establishing alpha dominance over other billionaires.
As far as actual free speech is concerned this all goes back to the problem that online platforms are just media companies except the content is provided by the users for free. Nobody has the right to free speech on Twitter any more than you do on the 6 o'clock news, but men with giant egos like Musk can't fathom the idea that they can't own the public forum and make it awesome for everyone cuz they're smart.
