I was a fan of these on my Sierra when I had it. Handled A logging (silver creek) and pretty much dominated everything else including snow with some added weight in the truck bed.

Picked up Michelin X-Ice 2 from Discounttire. Price matched to Tirerack.com, and got a rebate form for $70USD when bought all 4 at once.

When crossing the border, paid HST.

They looked up my Ebay account and found out how much I forget to declare my Pushed DHX was… ooops. Simple mistakes.. and they said I smuggled into Canada.

They made me pull up my paypal account once to confirm that I paid the amount that I said I paid for some wheels. Apparently it was a great deal, and the customs agent I was dealing with couldn't believe it. I wasn't lying and had nothing to hide, so I went along with it. But it surprised me as to how in depth they investigated my receipts.

It's all for our safety though, right?

I was thinking about the X-Ice2 but after reading some sub par reviews and looking at the price differences in the size I'd like, I opted for Pirelli 240 Sottozero's after reading reviews of winter tires for under my car model. They hopefully should come into Pt Roberts thurs/fri this week which is good since that little bit of snow we had last Friday had my car sliding trying to stop. Currently running Falken Ziex 912s fyi. Not a true all season imo either.

And is the rebate you received valid in Canada?

Oh absolutely. Safety first.

I was extremely lucky actually. They also searched my vehicle since I hadnt opened the DHX shipping box yet which they were nice enough to give me a chance to check it out for contraband before they searched the car. They didnt find anything. However, the next day when dropping my friend off, as he's about to close the passenger door, he reaches down between the door frame and seat and pulls out a nice half burnt j from 4 months previous.

Did you mean THAT kinda safety ;)

FWIW, if 90% of the use is on the road, I'd take a real close look at the Nokians like some have suggested. They really make good "all-season" tires.

I'm a believer in BFG A/T myself. Been running BFG on all my trucks and they have yet to let me down.

Cheapest alternative for an 'all season winter rated' tire is Dunlop rvxt. Has the mountain/snowflake so you won't get stopped when snow tire required. Better in the snow than an all-season tire, but not as good as a real winter tire. Likely not as good as Nokian's, from what I've read.

I'm amazed at how good even a middle of the road winter tire works, compared to all season tires. Will put them on from now on in the winters, as the kids are driving now.

Yupp - 16s.

Pretty much decided to get some winter tires as it will give me more peace of mind this season.

Might look for some 15 rims and slap these on for summer:
