Dunlops are mostly Germany and Japan. Some Goodyears in Germany too.

Canadian Tire has General Altimax Arctics on sale 30% off right now…

It's pretty much a wash compared to TireRack.

Here:

CND Tire $111.99 x 4 = $447.96CDN

Tire Rack $86 x 4 + $56 shipping to Sumas = $401US

Is there a Vancouver in Taiwan?! I had no idea!!

For some tires, Canadian prices are close. Co-worker of mine bought some Pirelli's from 1010tires.com at about the same cost as Tirerack.

But add in wheels and in my experience it can start to add up in favour of buying from the states - especially for higher-end tires and aluminum wheels. I saved about $400 buying out of the US for performance winter tires and aluminum rims.

I guess it all depends on what you're shopping for. I would have bought locally, but $400 is enough of a gap for me.

I've heard stories of Customs dudes being able to see your recent Visa purchases. If that's the case, either pay cash or tell the truth.

No. Standard warranties still apply. If I have an issue with my Dunlops, Dunlop's warranty states I can go to any Dunlop retailer in the US or Canada for assistance, or contact their head office in US or Canada.

Discounttire.com has decent prices and after gas/taxes/installation/duty I am saving $260 total, seems worth it for a few hours of "work".

I should be recieving my new tires and rims from Discount Tire Direct today. They call it free shipping to Canada, but you prepay brokerage, duty and tax. It's a round number that didn't change when the value varied slightly, so I would guess there's a buffer in there for some shipping. Got a much better deal than buying in Canada, which meant I could get rims to go with it. Anyone want to buy a set of Tacoma Offroad alloys or spidertrax spacers? :)

not worth getting caught for how little you might save.
you'll pay washington sales tax in washington, and then HST at the border (12%). still worth it if you take advantage of a tire sale (ie. discount tire in bellingham). while your tires are being installed you can go for a rip around galbraith!

you may be able to talk to the tire store about skipping the washington state taxes as you're from bc… I know Bellis Fair mall does and I think REI will too.

Customs will ask for a receipt or bill of lading so they can properly assess you taxes.

If you do not have one, well, have fun with that.

What size tire is that pricing based on.

For most 15" and 16" tires, not that much savings to be had. When I see a special order price of $340ish PER tire for my car from CDN Tire, then it's a different story.

Since those firestones I had ordered were slightly too tall, I've gone with Pirelli Winter 240 Sottozero's. I think I should enjoy these when they finally arrive in PR est. @ Dec 7th :(
