Reviving an old thread with an update, seeing as snow is in the forecast and this thread is a gold mine for tire advice! I put a set of Hankook Winter i-Pike RW11 tires on my Frontier pickup this year. The RW11 is, AFAIK, the replacement for the i-Pike W409 that was well regarded by many on this board, with an improved (i.e. softer) rubber compound. The tread may have changed ever so slightly as well, but nothing major.
So far I've been up to the ski hills a bunch of times, to Baker, and over to Sun Peaks on them. Had one particularly snowy drive back on the Coq last week. I'm happy - they're better than the Blizzaks that I've had on our RAV4 in wet west coast snow, probably not as good on colder/icier roads though. It's a snow tire, not an ice tire, essentially. I think the Michelin X-Ice product continues to be unbeatable on actual ice. The RW11's also do very very well in rain (at least, better than any of the modern studless snow tires that I've used in the last decade), which was important to me as these tires see far more horrible rain storm conditions than snow storms!
I paid $700+tax installed/balanced from Ok Tire in PoCo. 265/75R16 (i.e. a lot of tire). I considered a few other tires such as the Nokian Rotiiva, but for the price I'd have to agree that the Hankooks are pretty fantastic for our coastal winter conditions.
