200hp from a 4.0L is not tons cuz its old tech, the 3.7 in the F-150 makes [HTML_REMOVED]300hp from 3.7L, but its more than the 3.0, and that truck is gona last forever, I noticed the service interval is longer

I got the 2010 it was pretty stripped down but Ford was knocking 6600$ off the price … 19045$ for a 5 spd/ 4x4 with air/mags/hitch reciever I wish it had cruise but I don't cruise much anyway

google around "ford ranger" the peak in sales was 10-15yrs ago, production dropped year after year to where the sales figures were 1/4 of the peak, now if you were the CEO at Ford would you invest almost a billion getting a new small truck to the N.A. market when they aren't selling, or would ford not just try to flog f-150's … which is what they did?

sales dropped cause ford started pushing their fullsize trucks on consumers cause they make higher profit margins. of course sales are going to drop when you make the same truck with no real and no reason to buy a new one. the more expensive fuel gets the more small truck demand will increase

Ha Ha! Made you look.

Of course Ford pushed their other trucks to make more money becuz their job to make $$$ for their share holders, I get that some people want a small truck I would argue a FEW people and so can a car company make money building another small truck or can they make more money building something else ?

You are saying "build it and they will come" but if investing a billion in a small truck was gona pay off why is nobody doing it, why did toyo quit the small truck to build the midiszed tacoma which is very sucessful, which I have driven, which is a very nice right sized truck … albeit expansive as fuck ?

Its pretty safe to repeat that mantra cuz Ford and toyo both went for a different sales strategey and you never have to worry about being wrong so just keep repeating it

an f-150 gets much the same milage as a ranger, it carries the fam the dog all the shit people buy at costco to their plastic sided house in the burbs AND the assembly line is already there pumping out those trucks

a good exercise would be to compare the specs on an F150 to a full load tacoma

This is interesting. I'm also in the market for an older small pickup. I was initially considering a 1998-2003 Taco, because my old one went past 300k without a single hiccup, but I'll take a closer look at the Rangers now because they are a lot cheaper.

Being cheap is OK. Being a clueless sanctimonious condescending douchebag is just Vlad's MO.

You should just get a sedan and pull around a trailer when you need to put something in the truck bed.

Shitty ideas…I'm full of em.

Wrong. Always.

Do we really need any more power than that? It is not a race car. I mainly haul people and bikes up and down a mountain and it has more than enough power to do that.
I hauled a half ton of gravel in it and did 80km up the hill to my house, so I would say it has lots of power. It is not going win any races or tractor pulls but it is more than enough power for the average person.

is going big on a bike the only way to get you stoked on the sport? what happened to riding with your bros, travelling, and riding unique places, to get people stoked on riding?

fines are useless. there needs to be more punches to the throat.

If you don't want 4wd go for a clean 89-95 2wd Toyota Pickup with a 22RE/5spd.

A 94-04 S10 2.2L 2wd/5spd is a good truck mechanically, just a cheaply made body/interior.

In fact - the only light truck that guy likes is the Nissan! My personal beef with Nissan's is the massive centre console. I had a 91 Pathfinder, and never like my legs being pinned together. I checked out a newer Frontier and same thing - massive centre console - no ball space.

Frontier - the poor mans Tacoma. I have a '99 with 165,000 km on it and, typical, its been 100% reliable. Manual everything, even windows. Sometimes the clutch switch doesn't engage the first time so I have to turn the key twice for ignition. Fuel economy is about 12km/100L in the city and about 9-10 on the highway. Just about anything is faster.
