Nope, students in Toronto built a pedal powered ornithopter just a few weeks ago, albeit not quite as thrilling.
Do they have any ability to pull up and therefore moderate height, or is it a constant decreasing glide angle? If the later ….. holy fuck!

Why oh why did you have to post that? Just yesterday I was thinking about this stuff and couldn't get it out of my head all day. Methinks skydiving will be on the cards this season, a friend of mine knows a bunch of jump instructors who are also into baseing so the progression just seems logical. Flying one of those wingsuits has been in my head since the day I saw them. Must be something to do with my parents having over 1100 jumps combined. Damn them.
