Great, now they can start looking for the guy and certainly find him!  Good work everyone.

Maybe get a private investigator on the case, or someone who knows what the hell they're doing. Have not heard a peep from the RCMP saying how the investigations are coming.

I remember when the gondola was going to be to the top of the chief. The rock climbing association raised something like 6 million to buy the land that would be needed for the base just to thwart the project. I was always curious if the animosity towards the gondola was because it was targeted to the top of the chief or if people didn't want a gondola in general.

I guess some just didn't want a gondola.

why would the RCMP tip off the perp that they had almost caught them ? RCMP will tell the public not to worry but in an ongoing investigation they never say anything, I don't think any new shit has cometo light,  if the cutter can keep their mouth shut we may never find out

At least one person reeeeeeeally doesn't like it.  When this proposal came out (not the one in 2004 to the top of the Chief)  there were some against it, but I don't remember much push back, even from the climbers.

A bit of both.  IIRC, the climbing community was mostly just pissed at the lack of consultation.  The current location makes more sense... much more opportunity for activities (i.e. draw for customers) in the Shannon Creek basin and Sky Pilot group than on a few hundred square meters of granite on the summit of the Chief.
