Check out camping hammocks. Lighter, comfier and set up over any ground as long as there are trees around.

There is no such thing as a two man tent.

Yep, very versatile. This is a good option:

Love my hammock (Hennessy), but tents are great.

Get something that is easy to set up, like a Mec tarn 2 or 3. Whats your budget? Good options if you're willing to drop coin.

lots of little details to know. too many for this forum. visit a quality camping store or a big box like mec and ask someone. you'll get enough info to start thinking critically about the tent you want. here's a link all about tents

Most of the bike packers I've done trips with recently are using Big Agnes.

Ive probably got around 30 nights in my mec camper 2. Its very lightweight for the cost. Mind you it was cheaper when i bought mine. Im 5'11 and am just at the limit. Id suggest 5'10 max for this tent.

I would make a ground sheet from Tyvek and upgrade the pegs on almost any tent.

Spending 5 extra minutes getting the fly setup right and you'll be dry.

Improper storage is what kills tents.

I have a hennessy hammock and a Alps Mountaineering comet 2 man tent. The alps fits my dad who is 6'3"

Lots of good info over on clubtread if you want to search.

That's the problem with cities, they're refuges for the weak, the fish that didn't evolve.

I don't want to google this - sounds like a thing that NSMB will be better at.

Do you plan on using it 4 seasons? Summer tents, you can get by with pretty much anything unless you go in the alpine. I use a one man tarptent. Winter tents, spend the money for the best tent you can afford. You wont regret it after your first gnarly storm. ;)

I've had an MSR Hubba Hubba I bought from MEC about ten years ago, still going strong. It's a lot lighter than what I used previously (5lbs I think?), and it was priced quite well. $385 now over at MEC, looks pretty similar to what I've got. I like the Gear Shed option they've got as well, it's convenient if you've got bikes or if you end up needing a place to cook in the rain.

Being cheap is OK. Being a clueless sanctimonious condescending douchebag is just Vlad's MO.

I was going to recommend exactly what nechako suggested, hilleberg. Super light and simple, but expensive.

I have a Mec tarn 3. Takes about 2 minutes, maybe less, to set up. I have done hundreds of km of trips with it (and older models), and no problems.

Does Kelty still make tents? I've used a Kelty Vortex 2-person tent for 15 years and the only complaint Ive had is it can get sweaty during the hottest conditions.
