School me on Seattle - pubs, attractions

So the Missus and I are going to Seattle for the weekend for some alone time before the onslaught of family holiday cheer. We (she) will be doing a bit of shopping but the basis of the weekend is getting away, relaxing and enjoying the city.

We're staying at a hotel downtown and are pretty close to Pike Place Market

Any recommendations? Pubs, restaurants, activities etc.

So far we're planning on going to the brew-pub in Pike Place and spending some time walking around the market, otherwise the schedule is free. The only restrictions are Acrophobia (so no space needle) and Claustrophobia (so no underground walking tour), which is unfortunate because I wanted to see both.

thanks NSMB

So I guess the underground space needle is out…

Definitely recommend the Pike Brewery.

Woodland Park Zoo is a nice place to walk around and look at elephants.

If you're into French bistro style restaurants, check out Le Pichet.

If you are a fan of music or even just Frank Gehry, the Experience Music Project (EMP) Museum is pretty cool. Some neat music stuff to do and look at. But that's pretty much my limited tourist's knowledge of Seattle…

Head to Cheesecake Factory for a casual but amazing dinner (5 or 6 blocks up from the Market.) The appies and dinner have been so good that we've never had room for the cheesecake dessert! They have, roughly, a 8 page menu from which to choose a dish!! Next time the cheesecake will be "to go".

Thanks Dorothy, Patty really liked that idea, so it looks like we'll be spending Sunday afternoon at the Zoo.

Re: Cheesecake Factory… we're there!! My wife loves Big Bang Theory and that's where one of the characters works, also, I work for a Mutual Fund and we own Cheesecake factory shares so it would be to the benefit of the company.

The French restaurant sounds good too.
