Russian National Anthem in English

Russia – our holy nation

Russia – our beloved country.

A mighty will, great glory –

These are yours for all time!

Chorus:

Be glorious, our free Fatherland,

Age-old union of fraternal peoples,

Popular wisdom given by our forebears!

Be glorious, our country! We are proud of you!

From the southern seas to the polar lands

Spread our forests and fields.

You are unique in the world, one of a kind –

Native land protected by God!

Chorus:

Be glorious, our free Fatherland,

Age-old union of fraternal peoples,

Popular wisdom given by our forebears!

Be glorious, our country! We are proud of you!

Wide spaces for dreams and for living

Are opened for us by the coming years

Our loyalty to our Fatherland gives us strength.

Thus it was, thus it is, and thus it will be forever!

Chorus:

Be glorious, our free Fatherland,

Age-old union of fraternal peoples,

Popular wisdom given by our forebears!

Be glorious, our country! We are proud of you!

So Putin has started to correct the (in his eyes) historical mistake of the collaps of the UdSSR, it seems. I think in this case Putin is not unlike Stalin, who had an understanding of himself similar to the Tsars of old - aristocratic, devoid of any form of pluralism when it comes to opinion and culture.

Oh, and tungsten, since you apparently do not think that the Ukraine is allowed to be an independent country without a Russian overlord, what do you think of a similar issue with other countries along the former Iron Curtain, what about the baltic states, Romania, Moldavia, Poland?

It was Putin's decision to move his troops, no one forced him to do so.

Seriously dude. You lose all credibility when you use Russia's state sponsored disinformation channel to support your opinions.

Wanting a buffer zone of non-aligned states on Russia's borders is reasonable given NATO's violent history.

So, the gaz is off for now. But it can't be forever. Sooner or later you Germans will need to step up and govern yourselves w/o having to ask the yanks for permission evertime you want to fart.

So you really see the invasion of Ukrain and the whole Krim thing as Russian self-defense bc of the imperialistic moves of Nato?

Primarily, along with protecting the interests of Russian ethnics from the ultra-nationalists in Kyiv. See graph at bottom from the WaPo, not exactly a Kremlin mouthpiece.

Also economic. Regaining Crimea increased Russia mineral rights to the Black Sea seabed something like 6 fold. Clever. The Donbass is/was the industrial heartland of Ukraine/former USSR, no? Regaining that may or may not be beneficial given state of infrastructure.

trump axed missile treaty w/Russkies they asked Biden to renegotiate he said no. Insanity.

Those swell people at Monsanto and big ag some of the drivers of the yanke "colour revolution" in Kyiv.

Another failed one in.... After Kazakhstan, the color revolution era is over

Everything the crazies in Washington have attempted this century (and lots before!) has gone to shit.

Invade and destroy the functioning modern states of Iraq and Syria, empower Iran and flood your 'yurpeon allies w/refugees. Destroy functioning modern Libya flood southern 'yurp w/refugees. america invades/destroys Afghanistan and bankrupts both nations. More refugees. Now they've stolen their $ with the intent of letting them starve.

Finally, fucking with the Russkies in eastern 'yurp and "pivoting to Asia" have created a Russian Chinese alliance that will dominate world affairs for the foreseeable future.

Brilliant.

By that logic, the USA should probably just annex Germany or the UK. Big economic gains are clever.

Ignore that pesky question around the invasion a sovereign democratic nation.

It might also be worth going further back in time to consider the history of the people of that region, especially the Holodomor and how it played a role in modern day Ukraine.

I don't understand the "look you morons, China supports big Red" as some type of an argument or validation of an illegal invasion on the part of Russia. Of course China supports Russia's invasion of a sovereign democratic Country, they want to do the exact same thing to Taiwan.

Tungsten, you would've found a way to cheer Stalin murdering tens of million of innocents.

Maybe Russia should go back to its czarists beginnings.

Which the yankes will support via their long standing "One China" policy.

You're hysterical. Judicial excecutions and the gulag took slightly more than 2 million. Famine ( Holodomor ) numbers are hotly disputed with more recent research pointing to natural factors rather than state policy.

Russia has launched the attack on Ukraine apparently, Ukraine and Russia are at war.

And yes, tungsten, that war is totally justified, poor Mother Russia that only acts in self defense because of European and US Amerian imperialism.

On a different note, just a quick statement on Syria.....you really believe that the Syrian refugees in Europe are bc of US and Western policies and what not, and not because of a mad dictator who in the beginning of the civil war refused to act up on his promises and simply let shots being fired?

Wow.

You believe the US/British arming the jihadis to the teeth didn't exacerbate the situation? Wow indeed....

In the beginning, it was NOT jihadis, tbh. In the beginning of the conflict the situation was different, long before IS and other crackheads started to fill the local power vacuums. Oh well, it seems that you do not have an issue with Russia declaring war and invading a country like Ukraine, and it seems as if you give the fault for the Syrian civil war solely to the Western states and their actions.

I wonder what you say about Russia's interfering and mingling in Syria with Wagner mercenaries for example, but this would then turn into a silly game of tennis which I do not think is of value for you or me. I have the impression that you are hellbent on "being right" when it comes to Russia and their imperialism/nationalism that is currently invading a sovereign country, I guess, so be.
