Yeppers, I've got an AT[HTML_REMOVED]T branded Samsung Captivate running CyanogenMod 7 on the Glitch kernel OC'd at 1.5Ghz.

And an HP Touchpad, dual booting Web OS and CM7 "Tenderloin" Alpha 3 OC'd at 1.5Ghz.

HTC Hero running VillainROM here, I did have CM7 running on it but it was killing my battery. It's an older phone, time to upgrade methinks.

Galaxy sII running omega ROM. BLN is pretty nice, makes it like you have an led notifier. I also covet keyboard manager, swype portrait, stock landscape.

rooting an Android is like tuning the suspension of your bike, you could live without but your not going to get near the potential of the device.

stock HTC Magic, looking to upgrade to Galaxy S2.

Would it be cheaper in the long run to get it with a 3 year plan or to buy it straight up from newegg or something like that?

While I think the galaxy s2 is pretty sweet, I don't know if there's really much to gain from avoiding the contract, other than to upgrade soon after. At this point you may as well wait for an ICS device, it's not getting ported to the galaxy s2 very swiftly.

my contract is up in January so….
also, as an amateur developer, I don't need the newest Android, I need the most common android, ie 2.3.x

that and I don't know when ICS devices will start coming to Canada
