Man. This is one of those remember where you were when moments. RIP Stompin' Tom. Icon. Fiercely Canadian. Impossible to consider an equal in his genre and of our time.

WTF, Over?

Corb Lund

corb lund is amazing, no question, but as styles go, he is more alt country or whatever you want to call him, nothing like stompin tom. plus corb lund isn't fiercely canadian as songwriting goes…go listen to horse soldier! horse soldier! and there are u.s themes about mormons, u.s soldiers, etc. corb lund rocks, but go see a tim hus show for pure canadian country songs.

Corb Lund

Big Corb Lund fan. I would say though, that he has some catching up to do, to be as widely recognized name in music, in Canada. He has some time to catch up.
He has spanned to genres of music as well.
I recall the Smalls and they were ok too, but not really STC folk/country/grass roots style. A lot more significant in the last generation as far as recognition. Whiskers get credit some times.

Stompin Tom asked Hus to tour with him in 2011 and has mentioned many times that he'd like to see Tim carry on the tradition of True Canadian Story tellers.

Stompin Tom was an original who did things his way and did them with principle. Canadian Legend doesn't do him justice.

The Connors family actually lived a few miles from my family home in Ontario. I grew up playing soccer and hockey with his son Tom Jr. Very sad news but Tom Sr lived a full life and probably the most patriotic Canadian artist ever.
